Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 Exit Polls: NDA Poised for Majority, Tejashwi Yadav Predicts Mahagathbandhan Clean Sweep

Overview
Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 Exit Polls have projected a decisive majority for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. However, opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) remains confident that the Mahagathbandhan will secure a “clean sweep” across the state.
According to nine prominent exit polls released on November 12, 2025, the NDA is expected to win comfortably in the 243-member Bihar Legislative Assembly. Yet, Yadav and other INDIA bloc leaders have dismissed these surveys, calling them “biased and misleading.”
Tejashwi Yadav Rejects Exit Polls, Predicts Mahagathbandhan Victory
In a fiery press conference at his Patna residence, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav called the exit polls a product of “pressure and manipulation” by what he termed the “Godi Media.”
He claimed,
“When people were still standing in queue to cast their votes, the exit polls were already out. These surveys are not scientific but scripted.”
Yadav further accused the media of running narratives dictated by the PMO and Home Minister Amit Shah, questioning the transparency of the survey sample size.
Highlighting the massive voter turnout, Yadav noted that 72 lakh more voters participated compared to the 2020 Bihar elections — a figure he believes signals a “vote for change.”
“These 72 lakh votes are not to save Nitish Kumar but to change his government,” he asserted.
NDA Confident After Exit Poll Results
On the other side, NDA leaders celebrated the exit poll predictions, calling them a “reflection of people’s trust in double-engine governance.”
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha hailed the results, saying:
“Every Bihari has voted to enhance the state’s pride and development under Modi Ji and Nitish Ji. The people’s sentiments will shape a stronger, more respected Bihar.”
Union Minister Giriraj Singh echoed similar confidence, asserting that women voters played a major role in favor of the NDA. He remarked:
“Even after 20 years, Bihar remains in favor of this government. The enthusiasm among women will ensure a stronger strike rate than in 2010.”
Women Voters Emerge as the Game Changer
According to the Election Commission of India, Bihar recorded a historic voter turnout of 66.91%, the highest since 1951.
Women participation outnumbered men — 71.6% female turnout versus 62.8% male turnout — marking a major milestone in Bihar’s democratic journey.
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari described this as a “gender revolution in democracy,” noting:
“The Mahila Factor has emerged as the real swing vote in Bihar’s politics. This is the most gender-inclusive election since Independence.”
He added that the trend of “pro-incumbency for good governance” continues under PM Modi’s leadership — an unprecedented shift in Indian political behavior.
Bihar Minister Ashok Chaudhary: “People Voted to Stop Jungle Raj 2”
JD(U) leader Ashok Chaudhary said that Bihar’s electorate voted decisively to prevent the return of “Jungle Raj 2” — a reference to RJD’s previous tenure.
“People saw how the Mahagathbandhan behaved during Bihar Bandh. They are not fit for governance,” he told ANI.
Similarly, Union Minister Nityanand Rai called the exit polls a “seal of approval” for NDA’s development agenda. He claimed the NDA will surpass even the most optimistic projections.
“The name and work of PM Modi and the good governance of Nitish Kumar are the biggest influences in Bihar’s victory story.”
Opposition Dismisses Exit Polls as “Speculative”
Congress MP Tariq Anwar dismissed the exit polls outright, stating that they are “speculative” and not accurate indicators of actual results.
“Exit Polls are not accurate. They merely hint at what might happen. The real results will speak for themselves,” he said.
Congress leader Supriya Shrinate added that the people of Bihar would “teach a lesson” to the ruling NDA for manipulating their voting rights.
“We will talk after results, but I am sure Bihar will bring Mahagathbandhan to power.”
SP MP Awadhesh Prasad also rejected the exit poll predictions, insisting that the alliance will secure at least 175 seats and form the next government under Tejashwi Yadav.
Smaller Parties and Analysts React
BJP’s Guru Prakash Paswan mocked Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj, saying he doubted the party would win even a single seat, given Kishor’s non-participation in the race.
Meanwhile, Chirag Paswan, leader of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), expressed gratitude to the voters for a record turnout, calling it “truly unforgettable.”
“The god-like voters of Bihar have participated with such enthusiasm, it’s inspiring. I’m confident the NDA will return to power with full majority.”
Bihar’s Record Turnout and Gender Shift
In what the Election Commission called the highest turnout since 1951, the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 recorded nearly 67% polling across two phases.
The gender shift was particularly striking — over 4.3 lakh more women than men cast their votes, even though there were 42.33 lakh fewer registered women on the rolls.
Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Singh Gunjiyal highlighted that polling data from around 2,000 booths is still being tallied, indicating that the final turnout percentage may rise slightly.
Expert Insight: What These Exit Polls Mean
Political analysts suggest that while exit polls have often erred in the past, especially in Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, they still offer a glimpse into prevailing voter sentiment.
However, as Tejashwi Yadav reminded, past exit polls predicting NDA’s dominance in these states were proven wrong. The real test will come on counting day, when the votes reveal whether Bihar chose continuity or change.
